Portugal 1973. Started
his musical education at age 7 in Coimbra's Classical Musical Conservatory,
as a flute
student. At
age 17 he moved to the capital, Lisbon, pursuing double bass studies and
attended both Jazz and
classical music
schools, turning into a professional musician the year after. Since then,
he has performed all
over the world and
participated in over one hundred records: working with the most influential
Portuguese artists
from Fado to Pop,
Jazz to World Music, Rodrigo has been an artist permanently focused on
projects in which
he can extend to
a full length his creativity: composing, arranging, producing, writing
lyrics, recording and playing
the bass in countless
different musical projects.
Chapman Stick

2015 - during a two
months tour in Austria, he becomes aware of the Chapman Stick's existence
by watching
a video online and
falls in love with the instrument: on June the 5thhis first Railboard arrives
in Lisbon marking
the beginning of
the conversion from a bass player into a full time Chapman Stick soloist.
2016 – First live
performances with the Chapman Stick.
2017 –First solo
album with the Chapman Stick: "Stick to the Music"
2018 – Intense performance
Schedule with several concerts in Portugal and abroad (Spain, France, Tunisia)
and the remarkable
opportunity to meet, work and perform alongside the inventor of the instrument,
Emmett
Chapman, at the
"Free Hands Academy Summer Workshop 2018" in Los Angeles, USA.
Before the end of
the year he still has time to release two new solo albums: "Meditations"
and "Trovador: As
Outras Histórias".
2019 – recording
and digital simultaneous release of "Rodrigo Serrão Plays Bach Vol.
1 " in both audio
(streaming audio
platforms) and video (Youtube).
Invited teacher at
the Stick Camp Canada 2019, alongside Jim Meyer and Japhlet B. Attias
2020 – Rodrigo is
currently preparing a new record to be released before the end of the year.
First single released
is the famous work by Maestro Antonio Lauro: "Val Venezolano n.3"
